ABOUT M
Body Mind Shock Holistic Trauma Therapy Marijke Miller

 Hello,

My name is Marijke, your Body Mind Shock practitioner.

My journey began in the southern mountains of New Zealand, and took me on a long, colourful, winding road of life experiences, bringing me to you now from Darwin, in the tropical north of Australia.

I am a mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, companion and friend. I introduce myself in this way because in the culture of my birth country, and the land on which I now stand, it is respectful for me to acknowledge where I come from and who I am connected to, so that we may find a commonality to link us.

Welcome.

In my practice I am deeply attentive to you as an individual and have several decades of experience working with the complexities inherent in, and impacting on, the individual human spirit. I assist clients to identify what keeps them stuck, and then guide them gently, and safely, to the other side.

With extensive training in how the body and mind respond when under attack (physical and emotional), I bring this to my work to help you create a more resilient and empowered foundation from where you get to choose your future from a place where your triggers and traumas no longer run your life.

My areas of training, special interest, and experience are particularly suited to clients who struggle with physical aches, pains, and discomfort from injury, through to those with anxiety, depression, and low self-worth that may stem from neurodiversity, LGBTQ+, domestic violence, chronic illness, substance dependency, and rapid lifestyle changes.

The first step on your journey was recognising you needed help.

The second is to find a practitioner you feel drawn to, who you can trust to guide you to the other side of whatever you are currently facing.

I am available in Darwin and Melbourne in Australia, or via telehealth worldwide.

It does not, however,
have to be a
life sentence."

About BMS

RESTORE EQUILIBRIUM

While conventional medicine can prevent and cure many physical conditions, there is often a disconnect that typically neglects to address how trauma, or prolonged states of distress, can impact us physically as well as emotionally.

Often more holistic approaches are what make the difference, by actually de-linking trauma from the brain and the subconscious, and in a fraction of the time.

Body Mind Shock offers a Humanistic, trauma-informed, approach to wellness by searching for and identifying the deeper causes of discomfort and distress, and then clearing them from where they are stored in the body, brain and subconscious.

As a client, you will be guided through a process, mindfully individualised to you and your unique trauma profile, to provide a personal and inclusive solution. A combination of multi-disciplinary tools and wrap-around support enable you to learn to feel safe in your body, mind and environment, and ultimately transform your life.

About BMS

BUILDING RESILIENCE

BMS icon

Our increasingly complex and busy society is revealing discomfort and chronic illness caused, or exacerbated, by untreated trauma.

Living with trauma can be debilitating, isolating and exhausting for you and your loved ones.

While there isn't a "quick fix" to "cure" the many symptoms of trauma, our holistic trauma therapy reconnects the mind-body-spirit to improve health and well-being, lower stress and aid in emotional regulation when triggered.

I specialise in clients seeking change, and am skilled in guiding them to build resilience and strengthen foundations. By addressing and releasing learned behaviours, patterns and subconscious narratives, allowing you the freedom to live a life where you make the choices.

ConTact C.A.R.E
Flinchlock Release

A practical form of treatment, ConTact C.A.R.E is what it stands for- a Common Sense Approach to Real Ease.

ConTact C.A.R.E is unique in that it recognises the body’s self-defence system overrides the nervous system and the reflex system. The Flinchlock Release method involves locating and releasing the trapped bone pressure from the bone, which has been caused by surprise impact injuries, and is trapped in the bone. These injuries can cause physical pain, loss of mobility as well as emotional and behavioural problems.

Following Flinchlock Release, pressure drops, bones are naturally re-positioned and the body adjusts. The body’s natural seeking for the most effortless/efficient way to survive does the rest, homeostasis is improved and problems are resolved.

ConTact C.A.R.E has proven results alleviating headaches and migraines, co-ordination problems, back and neck pain, sports injuries, mental and emotional shock, and anxiety and depression. In general, any condition involving musculo-skeletal discomfort, tension, stress, or pain can be very effectively worked with.

Although a relatively new trauma treatment, it has quickly become well known throughout its birth country of New Zealand, and is now highly sought after in Australia, Germany and the United States, due to its exceptional results.

Havening Techniques
BMS icon

Havening Techniques® is a psychosensory therapy that uses gentle touch, known as Havening Touch®, to generate delta waves in the brain. This process helps to de-traumatise memories and reduce their negative impact on the mind and body. Developed by Dr Ronald A. Ruden and Dr Steven J. Ruden, this method works with the brain’s natural systems to ease the effects of trauma, stress, and distressing memories.

Havening is highly effective for a wide range of issues, including PTSD, phobias, chronic pain, anxiety, panic attacks, emotional eating, and performance challenges. By altering the brain’s biological structure, Havening provides lasting relief and supports a greater sense of well-being.

With practitioners across the globe, Havening is recognised as a powerful tool for emotional, mental, and physical healing, offering clients a transformative path to resilience and empowerment.

TRTP
The Richard's Trauma Process(TRTP™)
BMS icon

The Richard's Trauma Process (TRTP™) is a dynamic, rich and sequenced series of steps, which, if separated would not be anywhere near as powerful as they are combined. It is unique, allowing space for the individual client’s needs to be met.

The TRTP model views the cause of anxiety, depression, PTSD and most other mental health issues, if not caused by physical illness or brain injury, as being caused by unresolved distressing events from the past.

The body, indeed the whole being, continues to respond as if those events are happening now. The results are the symptoms of anxiety, depression, PTSD etc.*

Trauma is stored in the unconscious, not in the conscious mind. (Levine, van der Kolk, Rothschild, Ogden,). In order to deal with trauma where it is stored, in the unconscious and in the body, TRTP™ uses the language of the unconscious and body - deep imagination. Using deep imagination, the requirements for trauma to be resolved are met.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming
(NLP)
BMS icon

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is the study of success. It’s a set of models developed in the 1970s in the United States, by John Grinder, Richard Bandler and many others, based on a set of very precise ways to identify how someone who is successful is achieving results.

Although applications of the method are varied, in the area of personal-development and health, research studies show that NLP processes can increase memory by 61%, or eliminate the problems of post traumatic stress disorder in one session, increase sense of being in control of life, reduce anxiety, and demonstrate higher “self-actualisation”.*

NLP explores how a person organises their thinking, feelings and language, with the central belief that the connection between how our brain works, our language, behavioural patterns effect our life experiences.

During a session, this therapeutic technique works on rewiring the brain to help overcome psychological disorders and mental barriers, such as depression, anxiety, phobias and PTSD, empowering you to take control and create the life you want.

Hypnosis
Clinical Hypnotherapy
BMS icon

Hypnotherapy- a type of mind-body medicine- is a state of deep relaxation and focused concentration.

Using verbal cues, repetition and imagery, you will be guided into this deep state of focus and relaxation. This intense level of concentration allows you to ignore distractions, turning your attention inwards, and therefore becoming more open to guided suggestions. These new mental resources enable you to manage pain or other physical ailments and achieve desired behavioural changes, empowering you to improve your physical and mental health.

During this powerful therapy, your conscious mind is quieted, allowing you to tap into the part of your brain from where your thoughts, beliefs, perceptions, sensations, emotions, memory and behaviours originate. â€‹In this state, you’re more open to gentle guidance to help you modify or replace the unconscious thoughts that are driving the current behaviour, you desire to change.

"Just go see Marijke!

I met with Marijke in June 2021 to work on some long standing habits/problems/sense of self, that had started out as self-care in my childhood years.

I had a remarkable series of treatments with her using TRTP, The Richards Trauma Process. Marijke skillfully targeted these problems for me and helped me reset my thinking. I say ‘remarkable’ as the first session really made a dramatic change to me. I felt different. I did different. I acted different.

Yes, I’d also seen psychologists and counsellors over the years who helped with other areas, some equally dramatic, however, that had taken years of therapy. This was over 3 sessions.

I didn’t need to go to the depths of my emotional layers and talk through the pain. Instead Marijke pinpointed exactly what I needed. These sessions were direct, positive, caring, supportive and insightful. During one session she also incorporated her Contact Care practice that took away the shock I was experiencing in my physical system. I didn’t realise how much stress I was carrying in my body until she treated it away.

I felt utterly supported by Marijke before, during and after the sessions and I still use the recordings today."
